Mumbo Pizzas

Mumbo Pizzas

If you’re looking for an easy, weeknight pizza with bold flavor, this Mumbo Pizza delivers big taste with minimal effort. Inspired by the sweet-savory punch of John Young’s Original Mumbo Sauce, this flatbread pizza is a fun twist on classic pizza night—perfect for quick dinners, game days, or late-night cravings.

The mumbo sauce acts as the base instead of traditional tomato sauce, bringing tangy, slightly sweet heat that pairs beautifully with melted cheese and your favorite toppings. You can keep it simple or get creative, making this recipe endlessly customizable and ready in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Flatbread or naan (store-bought works great)
  • John Young’s Original Mumbo Sauce or Spicy Mumbo Sauce
  • Shredded cheese (mozzarella, provolone, or a blend)
  • 3–4 favorite toppings (pepperoni, sausage, onions, peppers, mushrooms, chicken, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Place flatbread on a baking sheet.
  3. Spread an even layer of John Young’s Original or Spicy Mumbo Sauce over the flatbread.
  4. Sprinkle generously with shredded cheese.
  5. Lightly top with 3–4 favorite toppings—don’t overload.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until cheese is melted and toppings are cooked.
  7. Optional: Broil for 1–2 minutes for extra crispness (watch closely).
  8. Finish with a light drizzle of additional mumbo sauce if desired.
  9. Slice, serve hot, and ENJOY.

Tips & Variations

  • Protein swap: Try leftover grilled chicken or pulled pork.
  • Veggie-forward: Roasted broccoli, red onion, and banana peppers work especially well.
  • Extra heat: Use Spicy Mumbo Sauce or add crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Crispier crust: Bake flatbread directly on the oven rack for the last few minutes.
