Mumbo Burgers

Mumbo Burgers

These Mumbo Burgers are all about letting bold, nostalgic flavor shine. Juicy, well-seasoned burger patties are mixed with finely diced onion and bell pepper for extra moisture and flavor, then finished with a generous hit of John Young’s Original or Spicy Mumbo Sauce. The result is a burger that’s savory, slightly sweet, tangy, and unmistakably crave-worthy.

This recipe works just as well for backyard cookouts as it does for a quick weeknight dinner. Make them slider-sized for parties or go big with classic burger buns—either way, mumbo sauce takes this from familiar to unforgettable.

Ingredients

  • Ground meat of choice (beef recommended)
  • Seasoning salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Bell pepper, finely diced
  • Onion, finely diced
  • Olive oil (optional, for lean meat)
  • Burger buns or Hawaiian rolls
  • Mustard (optional)
  • John Young’s Original or Spicy Mumbo Sauce
  • Pickle slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Choose your ground meat and season generously with seasoning salt and black pepper.
  2. Finely dice a small amount of bell pepper and onion. Add to the meat and mix gently by hand until combined.
  3. Form into patties:
  4. 4 oz for slider-size (Hawaiian roll size)
  5. 6–8 oz for regular burger buns
  6. Preheat a frying pan over medium heat. If using lean meat, lightly oil the pan with olive oil.
  7. Cook burgers, flipping once and gently pressing, until browned and cooked to medium-well or well-done.
  8. Optional: Toast buns in a separate pan until lightly golden.
  9. Assemble burgers with mustard if desired, dip or top generously with John Young’s Original or Spicy Mumbo Sauce, and add pickles if you like.
  10. Serve hot and ENJOY.
